Great performance of one of my favorite songs!!! Shane McGowan and the Pogues did their own classy interpretation. Irish music and irish artists are wonderful!

They say history is written by the victor. Folk music is written by the people. You need a lot of passion and emotion to sit down and write a song. These songs, as mentioned before, tell an important narrative and are passed from generation to generation. A lot of modern music is written simply to make money. These songs won't last the test of time. A hundred years from now Brittney spears' music will be in the trash heap of history. Folk Music, and Luke Kelly, will still be listened to.

That may be true. I don't know where you are from but in many places in Europe (especially Ireland) drink is an integral part of the culture. And there isn't a damn thing wrong with that.
